We are seeking an experienced Lifting Coordinator & HSE to join our Outage Services team. This is a dual-role position combining detailed lift planning during project preparation with on-site leadership of lifting operations during outages and maintenance activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all lifting operations are planned, coordinated, and executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK legislation, industry standards, and company procedures. This role is ideal for an experienced lifting professional who is passionate about safety, thrives in a dynamic outage environment, and enjoys working collaboratively across engineering and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lift Planning
- Develop comprehensive lift plans for a wide range of lifting operations, ensuring all hazards are identified and suitable control measures are implemented.
- Prepare lifting-related risk assessments and method statements for outage and maintenance activities.
- Select appropriate lifting equipment, cranes, and accessories, ensuring all equipment is certified, suitable for purpose, and compliant with LOLER and PUWER requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on customer-supplied lifting equipment and tooling requirements for each outage.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and site teams to gather the information required to produce safe and effective lift plans.
- Maintain accurate lifting documentation and records throughout the project lifecycle.
On-Site Leadership
- Lead and coordinate all lifting operations during outages, ensuring activities are carried out in accordance with approved lift plans.
- Provide leadership and direction to Crane Operators, Lift Supervisors, Riggers, and all personnel involved in lifting activities.
- Monitor compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant UK health and safety legislation.
- Stop lifting operations immediately where unsafe conditions or unsafe behaviors are identified.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all lifting operations on site, ensuring effective communication between the lifting team, site management, and project stakeholders.
- Adapt lifting plans where required in response to changing site conditions while maintaining safety and operational efficiency.
- Support investigations into lifting incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
