Lifting SuperintendentFramatomeHinkley Point C

Looking for a competent lifting person with rigging experience to assist with overseeing mechanical lifting activities associated with the installation of the primary components of the 2 nuclear reactors being installed in Hinkley Point C.  

Framatome have a dedicated lifting sub-contractor for all lifting activities and the role of the rigging superintendent will be to aid in the planning of rigging activities with the sub-contractor, review lift plans submitted by lifting by sub-contractor, and then aid in the setting to work and supervision of the works and carry out any assurance checks / audits to maintain a high standard of safety / right first time.Ultimately you will be part of a team which will deliver the installation of the only 2 nuclear reactors built In the UK in decades.

Accountabilities:

  • Assist with implementation of Processes and Procedures to effectively control mechanical lifting activities for Framatome scope of works.
  • Review lift plans in accordance with Framatome & NNB Lifting Standards.
  • Carry out lifting assurance checks to ensure that the lifting equipment utilised by Framatome and their sub-contractors is thoroughly examined (including lifting accessories).
  • Have knowledge and understanding to allow selection of appropriate rigging lifting accessories, including their method of attachment to the load, and any protection used to prevent damage.
  • Oversee and liaise with subcontractor briefings to all lifting/rigging personnel prior to the lifting operation to ensure that the safe system of work described in the lift plan is understood.
  • Ensure lift plans are reviewed and to the correct standard to ensure safe Lifting/Rigging.
  • Plan resource to ensure there is a Lift/rigging Supervisor designated to direct personnel and to ensure that the operation is carried out in accordance with the lift plan.
  • Be able to identify / Investigate hazards associated within the lifting activity area.
  • Liaise with any other persons or authority, as required to overcome any hazard, by including any necessary corrective action or special measures in the safe system of work.
  • Attend coordination meetings with principal contractor to book crane slots to facilitate site activities.

Key Deliverables

  • Produce / review Lifting plans for rigging activities.
  • Ensure lifting activities comply with legislation, standards, ACOP.s and Framatome & NNB lifting standards.
  • Establish and maintain a high standard of health and safety, carry out site inspections to ensure Safe systems of works are being adhered to, with safety rules being implemented to deliver the scope of works following a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Support the Lifting Manager in the delivery of all lifting activities associated with the Framatome scope of works on Hinkley point C.
  • Support the Lifting Manager to ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
  • Support the Lifting Manager to ensure resource to meet organisational requirements are available in line with the delivery schedule.

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience (as per MEH matrix)

Qualifications

  • ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads and TAP01 (Preferred)
  • NVQ Level 3 Steel Erecting/Moving Loads (preferred) or ACE card
  • CPCS A61 Appointed Person (Blue Card)
  • Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher)
  • IOSH managing safely or SMSTS

Experience

  • Lift planning rigging operations (essential)
  • Lift planning using Mobile/Crawler/Tower cranes (preferred)
  • AutoCAD proficient (preferred)
  • Experience working in nuclear power preferred, or power stations / refineries to be aware of safety culture within this industry.
  • Experience working on major construction projects (preferred)

  • Framatome Site team (in particular Construction, lifting sub-contractor, Logistics, Warehouse)
  • Client/Principal Contractor (in particular Temporary Works and Lifting)
  • Installation teams and Subcontractors (Designers, Subcontractors Lifting AP's, Lifting Services and Equipment suppliers)
