Job Title: Light Gauge Steel (LGS) Implementation Lead

Role Purpose:

The LGS Implementation Lead will be responsible for mobilising and embedding a fully functioning LGS operation on our KSA development site, directing this remotely from the UK and travelling to KSA for the activities that genuinely require a physical presence. This includes selecting and commissioning the right machinery, setting up the production and quality processes, establishing the operating team and organisational structure, and training that team to a standard where they can run the operation independently. The role also requires deep familiarity with the specific technical challenges of implementing LGS in a hot, arid climate.

Indicative on-site requirement: certain activities cannot be done remotely and will require the consultant to be physically present in KSA — notably machinery commissioning and initial line set-up, hands-on training of the site team, and key project milestones (mobilisation, first production runs, audits/inspections). We expect this to mean more frequent and longer on-site blocks during the first 2–3 months of mobilisation, tapering to shorter, periodic visits (e.g. one to two weeks per month, to be agreed) once the team and process are established, with remote oversight, reporting, and coordination in between.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end mobilisation of LGS: process design, workflow sequencing, site layout, and integration with the broader construction programme, managed remotely from the UK and reinforced through scheduled visits to the KSA site.
• Specify, source, and commission LGS machinery (roll-forming lines, framing/truss tables, screw-fixing and connection equipment), including liaising with equipment suppliers and manufacturers, and travelling to KSA in person for delivery, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
• Establish quality control and quality assurance procedures across design, fabrication/roll-forming, panel assembly, transport, and on-site erection, in line with relevant international standards (e.g. AISI/ASTM or equivalent) and any applicable Saudi Building Code requirements.
• Design and stand up the operational organisation structure required to run LGS production and installation, including defining roles, crew sizes, shift patterns, and reporting lines.
• Recruit, onboard, and train site-based supervisors and operatives in LGS design interpretation, machine operation, panel assembly, erection sequencing, and health & safety procedures, building the team's capability to operate independently by the end of the contract — delivered through a combination of in-person, on-site training blocks and remote follow-up/coaching.
• Provide regular remote oversight of the on-site team between visits (video calls, progress reviews, remote QA checks on documentation and photos/video), escalating to an in-person visit where issues cannot be resolved remotely.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), method statements, and training materials tailored to Sumou's site and workforce.
• Advise on and mitigate the specific risks of implementing LGS in a hot climate, including material and coating specifications, thermal movement and expansion allowances, corrosion/galvanic protection, insulation and thermal bridging strategy, and safe working practices for personnel and equipment in high ambient temperatures.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and main contractors to ensure LGS design intent is buildable and coordinated with other trades.
• Set up procurement and supply chain relationships for steel coil, connectors, fixings, and consumables, including local and regional sourcing options to support long-term cost efficiency.
• Establish KPIs and reporting cadence to track productivity, quality, wastage, and cost performance of the LGS operation, and report progress regularly to Sumou senior management.
• Identify and resolve technical and operational issues as they arise on site, acting as the primary technical authority on LGS for the duration of the engagement.
• Prepare a structured handover and knowledge-transfer plan, ensuring the internal team is fully self-sufficient to continue operations after contract completion.
