Company Description

Kettle Collective is a multi-award-winning international design practice founded in 2012, with studios in Edinburgh, London, Dubai, Muscat, and New Cairo. Role Description

The Lighting Designer will work on-site at the Edinburgh studio in a full-time capacity, collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients to develop integrated lighting concepts for a range of projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Creating lighting schemes
  • Selecting fixtures
  • Preparing drawings and specifications
  • Coordinating lighting layouts with architectural and interior design plans
  • Producing visualizations, presentations, and technical documentation
  • Supporting project delivery from concept through detailed design and site coordination
  • Attending design reviews
  • Contributing to sustainable and energy-efficient solutions
  • Ensuring that lighting design aligns with project budgets, timelines, and performance requirements

Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate strong skills in Lighting Design and Architectural Lighting for interior and exterior environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant lighting standards, sustainability principles, and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Competence in design and documentation tools such as Revit, BIM platforms, AutoCAD, Dialux/Relux, and presentation software.
  • Strong visual, conceptual, and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a design practice or consultancy environment; international project experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to work on-site in Edinburgh, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines while maintaining high design quality.
