The Role

As Solutions Engineer in the Lighting department, you will be responsible for providing technical, equipment, and design expertise to the Projects Managers, Account Managers, and colleagues as required. From these conversations, you will be required to advise and specify equipment and systems capable of delivering projects to the robust standards expected by Creative Technology and our clients.

The ability to think strategically and deliver well-thought-out technical solutions is paramount to the role. You will need to maintain the high technical knowledge you already have, whilst also becoming familiar with the wide range of equipment and services offered by Creative Technology.

The role involves providing support for multiple projects at any given time, the largest of which may require your presence on site. The ability to document systems and instructions, train full-time and freelance staff, and deliver remote support is imperative.

The role also involves being responsible for multiple internal projects, which may be planned research and testing, reactive to problems being encountered on site, or diagnostic to understand issues and prevent further delivery problems. Documenting and sharing their outcomes to assist our delivery and investment decisions is also expected.

Responsibilities

Department

  • Keep abreast of new equipment, solutions, and innovations as they come to market and work with the Technical Managers to recommend and test these as required.
  • Monitor the progression of the prep team relating to projects that you are directly involved in, ensuring all the systems and equipment are prepared to the high standards expected, regardless of department.
  • Provide ad-hoc training for other engineers and technicians on equipment and systems.
  • Produce and/or deliver training to other engineers and technicians on equipment and systems. This may involve formal training sessions where presentations and documentation are required.
  • Support the Rental Team with suggestions of alternative equipment or suppliers when equipment can’t be sourced from internal stock.
  • Where appropriate, suggest opportunities for others to deliver the project on site instead of you, to allow you to concentrate on other work, whilst allowing them to gain valuable on-site experience.
  • Use all opportunities to teach, mentor, or coach colleagues.
  • Provide, or pass on feedback on all aspects of the company’s technical delivery including equipment, staff, freelancers, and processes, and ways they could be improved.
  • Assist with assessing new equipment or technologies with the view of advising on future investment.
  • Take good consideration of the technical capabilities of the company’s equipment, services, and staff and actively contribute to the best use, technical direction, and future of the resources.
  • Ensure your working area is kept neat and tidy, clearing down after every prep to keep the department running as efficiently as possible.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
