Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire | Field Based
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

About Us

Omega Red Group is the recognised UK market leader in earthing, lightning protection, and height safety protection.

Omega Red offers survey, design, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair solutions for earthing, lightning protection, surge protection and height safety. The business is passionate about protecting people, property, electrical equipment and systems, from the damaging effects of lightning strikes, electrical faults and surges.

The Role

As a Lightning Protection Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring lightning protection and buried earthing systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational.

Working in a field-based capacity across London and surrounding areas, you will undertake inspections, surveys and testing on a variety of commercial, industrial and construction sites. You'll use specialist equipment to assess system performance, identify defects and provide professional recommendations to clients.

This role is ideal for a technically minded engineer who enjoys working independently, delivering high-quality service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lightning Protection Test Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out the survey, installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of a wide range of height safety systems.
  • Lead projects on-site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Mentor and support engineers and operatives, helping to develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation through the effective use of risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Carry out and support pre-tender surveys, providing technical input and recommendations to the Estimating team.
  • Produce accurate inspection and testing reports, clearly identifying defects and recommending remedial actions.
  • Install and commission a variety of height safety equipment in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business and contribute to maintaining operational excellence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
