We're looking for a passionate and skilled Line Cook to join our friendly team at Route 74 Truckstop. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy kitchen, takes pride in producing hearty, well-presented food, and wants to be part of a supportive and energetic team. As a Catering Chef, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality meals to our customers, supporting the wider kitchen operations, and helping maintain our strong reputation for great food and great service.
About The Role
As a Line Cook, you will:
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook a wide range of hot and cold dishes to consistently high standards.
- Support menu planning, daily specials, and food presentation.
- Work confidently across all sections including the griddle, hot plate, and meal service areas.
Daily Kitchen Tasks
- Complete daily prep including vegetables, soups, sauces, and batch cooking.
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with portion control, allergen guidelines, and company standards.
Kitchen Operations
- Work as part of a fast-paced kitchen serving around 300 covers per day.
- Communicate effectively with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to maintain smooth service flow.

Cleaning & Hygiene
- Ensure all equipment, surfaces, and utensils are cleaned to high standards at the end of each shift.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, HACCP, and hygiene regulations at all times.
Teamwork & Support
- Contribute positively to the team culture.
- Support colleagues, share knowledge, and help maintain a friendly, efficient working environment.
Essential Skills And Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a busy commercial kitchen environment.
- Strong cooking skills with experience in high-volume catering.
- A good understanding of food safety, allergen management, and kitchen best practice.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided if required).
- Able to remain calm under pressure and work efficiently to deadlines.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
- Hardworking, reliable, and self-motivated, with a passion for delivering great food.

- Shift Hours: 37.5 hours p/w. Rota issued 2 weeks in advance. Sun-Thu: 12:00hrs-21:15hrs, Fri: 12:00hrs-20:30hrs, Sat: 11:30hrs-19:30hrs
