Reports to: UK Linehaul Director
Lead a High‑Performing Linehaul Operation
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join DHL as a Linehaul Transport Manager.
In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management and operational delivery of the Linehaul transport function. Leading a team of Operations Managers and Transport Supervisors, you will ensure exceptional service performance, operational compliance and cost control whilst creating an environment where colleagues can develop, grow and deliver their best performance.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong transport expertise, leadership capability and a passion for continuous improvement to influence performance across a critical part of the UK and international network.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading & Developing the Linehaul Team
- Lead and support Operations Managers and Transport Supervisors to achieve operational and business objectives.
- Set clear goals and expectations aligned to Linehaul strategy and performance requirements.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, coaching and development activities to build capability and engagement across the team.
- Create a culture focused on respect, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Driving Operational Performance
- Manage the day‑to‑day transport operation to deliver world‑class service and budget performance.
- Work closely with the National Planning team to ensure effective execution of the road plan and optimal resource utilisation.
- Develop and use performance metrics to drive efficiency, service quality and cost control.
- Review site performance regularly and implement corrective actions where required.
Driving Continuous Improvement & Strategic Delivery
- Lead regional and national projects, initiatives and continuous improvement activities across Linehaul Operations.
- Analyse operational trends and recurring issues to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to operational and financial reporting, business cases and planning submissions.
- Develop and implement improvement plans to enhance service performance and operational effectiveness.

Managing Stakeholder Relationships
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate planning changes, operational priorities and business requirements clearly and effectively.
- Support business growth by ensuring operational processes meet customer and commercial requirements.
- Promote collaboration and best practice across the wider network.
Ensuring Compliance & Safety Excellence
- Ensure compliance with operating licence requirements, transport legislation and regulatory standards.
- Drive a positive Health & Safety culture across the operation.
- Ensure adherence to customs, import/export and security procedures.
- Maintain the highest standards of operational and regulatory compliance.
Who We're Looking For

You are someone who:

- Communicates confidently and builds effective relationships across all levels of the business.

- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to support the needs of a 24/7 operation.
Skills & Experience
- Experience managing large operational teams within a transport, logistics or distribution environment.
- Strong transport operational knowledge, including CPC, Working Time Directive, Tachograph and Highway Code requirements.
- Experience leading projects and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical capability and commercial awareness.
- Experience within transport, logistics or a similar operational management environment.
- Degree, relevant vocational qualification or equivalent industry experience.
