Linen Services Assistant Manager

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals currently has an opening for a Linen Services Assistant Manager in the Laundry at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. As an aspiring or experienced leader with a background in managing staff in a target driven production environment, the Assistant Manager role represents a real opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of the country’s most cherished institutions. The post requires dedication and commitment to the service and ultimately the patients in the Sheffield and surrounding areas.

Successful candidates will need to be proactive and agile in their approach to managing the day to day demands as no two days are alike. The staff within the Laundry are expected to meet hourly production targets as well as being comfortable handling used, hospital linen, with some vaccinations required for this part of the process. As the Assistant Manager there would be an expectation of leading by example when needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
