An exciting opportunity to join a leading global technology company, working on cutting-edge multilingual AI and NLP research. This role is UK-based and fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse multilingual datasets and AI model outputs, identifying linguistic errors and patterns.
- Develop and revise annotation and translation guidelines.
- Conduct typological, sociolinguistic and NLP-related research.
- Support Responsible AI analysis, including toxic language, hate speech and cultural/gender bias.
- Review vendor quality and provide actionable feedback.
- Collaborate with native speakers, engineers and research scientists.
- Contribute to research projects and publications.

Must Have
- Completed PhD in Linguistics or closely related linguistic field – not in progress.
- Native/professional in a Dravidian or Bantu language – Swahili is a plus.
- Native/professional English.
- Python and SQL skills are essential.
- Strong knowledge of typology, syntax, morphology, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, pragmatics and phonology.
- Experience with basic NLP techniques.
- Strong research and communication skills.
Experience
- 0–3 years' relevant experience.
- Experience collaborating with ML/NLP/software engineers or data scientists.
- Research paper/publication experience is desirable.
- Nice to have: Corpus linguistics, linguistic fieldwork, low-resource languages, additional programming languages and project management knowledge.
