Are you passionate about supporting people, providing guidance, stability and continuity of care to guests facing limited move on options?
Role
The Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre provides emergency accommodation with support to anyone who would otherwise be rough sleeping in Edinburgh.
We are looking for a link worker who will build on and establish pathways to support individuals to positively move on from the Welcome Centre. The primary focus of the role is to engage with guests who have complicated and limited move on options and providing continuity of support and oversight to the implementation of guest support plans.
In this role you will work closely with daytime team leaders, project workers, City of Edinburgh council staff, volunteers and partner agencies to deliver high quality support for guests. We are looking for someone with experience of working with vulnerable and homeless people, with a good understanding of homelessness services, mental health, and addiction issues. You should be confident in managing challenging behaviour, while also demonstrating strong administrative skills and proficiency in MS Office. An SVQ Level 3 in Care/promoting independence, or an equivalent qualification is desirable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
