Trade Finance Lawyer

Re:link is supporting a leading international bank in identifying an experienced Trade Finance lawyer to join its London-based legal team for a six-month contract.

The role will involve advising on a broad range of trade finance and related banking matters across the bank’s business, with a particular focus on documentation, transaction execution, and legal risk management, working closely with front office, credit, risk, compliance, and operations stakeholders, supporting matters across multiple jurisdictions.

The scope of work may include advising on:

  • receivables finance and receivables purchase arrangements
  • supply chain finance structures
  • borrowing base and other working capital facilities
  • structured trade and commodity finance transactions
  • letters of credit, guarantees, and trade loans
  • risk participations, indemnities, legal opinions, and related customer documentation
  • regulatory, governance and policy issues relevant to trade finance products and transactions

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with:

  • strong trade finance experience gained at a leading law firm, financial institution or established in-house legal team
  • solid experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating trade finance and general banking documentation
  • exposure to structured trade finance, commodity finance or export credit agency-related work being advantageous
  • experience supporting transaction structuring, due diligence, and execution across cross-border matters
  • a strong understanding of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk in a banking environment
  • experience working closely with business, credit, risk, compliance, and operational teams
  • the ability to manage a busy workflow, prioritise effectively and work with a high degree of autonomy
  • strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear, practical advice to a range of stakeholders
