Senior Linux Automation & Platform Engineer (Perl/Python)

Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite in Canary Wharf)
Contract Duration: 12 Months (49 weeks)
Benefits: 33 days holiday allowance

Are you a hands-on Linux Automation Engineer with a strong background in Perl and Python? We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to support, maintain, and evolve a critical enterprise platform for a large-scale global client.

In this role, you will champion operational excellence by optimizing automation workflows, troubleshooting complex infrastructure, and driving platform modernization initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing automation solutions using Perl, Python, and Shell scripting.
  • Support and optimize Linux-based production environments (RHEL), ensuring high reliability and stability.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git, Jenkins) for seamless build and deployment processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve cross-platform infrastructure, application, and network issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to investigate incidents and implement continuous improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong enterprise Linux administration and troubleshooting experience (RHEL or similar).
  • Heavy-hitting scripting and automation skills (Perl, Python, Bash, or Korn Shell).
  • Solid knowledge of Git-based workflows and CI/CD tooling.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP).
  • Proven ability to work independently in complex, large-scale, or regulated enterprise environments.

Desirable Skills:

  • Enterprise storage experience (NetApp, SAN solutions).
  • Knowledge of authentication tech (Kerberos, SPNEGO).
  • Database exposure (PostgreSQL, SQLite).
  • Familiarity with cloud, containerization, and modern platform engineering practices.
