Linux Engineer
Location: Flexible with remote and on-site possibilities
Day Rate: £300-350/day (OUTSIDE IR35)
Contract Length: 3 months (extendable)
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build, configure, and support Linux infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain Puppet configurations and Shell scripts to automate deployment, administration, and operational tasks.
- Work on Linux infrastructure projects, including new Linux builds, upgrades, and migrations to newer versions.
- Manage and improve enterprise monitoring, responding to alerts, and developing monitoring rules/scripts where required.
- Provide BAU support and troubleshooting, investigating incidents, maintaining system availability, and ensuring infrastructure is secure, documented, and compliant.

Required Experience
- Strong commercial experience as a Linux Engineer / Systems Engineer, ideally within an enterprise environment.
- Strong Linux administration and engineering skills, particularly Ubuntu and/or other major Linux distributions.
- Hands-on experience with Puppet and configuration management, with strong Shell/Bash scripting and automation skills.
- Good understanding of networking and enterprise monitoring, including TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, and monitoring tools.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure, ideally Azure, with some Windows/Active Directory experience advantageous but not essential.
