HPC Linux Infrastructure Engineer - Contract
Cambridge | 3-month initial contract | HPC / Linux
I'm looking for an experienced HPC / Linux Infrastructure Engineer to support a growing deep-tech organisation with the improvement and optimisation of an existing High Performance Computing environment.
The initial engagement will be approximately 3 months, with a focus on assessing the current HPC cluster, implementing improvements and leaving behind a more robust, manageable and well-documented environment for the internal engineering team.
The work will include:
- Supporting and improving an existing Linux-based HPC cluster
- Reviewing the current infrastructure and identifying areas for improvement
- Implementing changes to improve reliability, resilience and maintainability
- Improving administration, monitoring and management of the environment
- Introducing appropriate tooling and automation
- Troubleshooting Linux and infrastructure issues
- Producing clear technical and operational documentation
- Knowledge transfer to the internal team

- Monitoring, troubleshooting and performance optimisation

- Working autonomously and taking ownership of infrastructure improvements

Experience within research computing, scientific computing, semiconductor/EDA environments or other engineering-focused HPC environments would be particularly relevant.
This is a hands-on contract where the objective is not simply to maintain the existing environment, but to improve it and leave the internal team with the tooling, documentation and knowledge to manage it effectively going forward.
