Linux Platform Engineer
Leeds
£35,000 to £40,000
Hybrid working - 3 days per week onsite
Are you an experienced Linux engineer looking to broaden your skills across platform engineering, infrastructure and DevOps within a highly secure technical environment?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading defence organisation supporting critical engineering platforms used by software development teams across the business. You'll play a key role in maintaining and improving secure, on-premise platforms that enable engineers to develop, build and deploy cutting-edge technology.
Working within a collaborative platform engineering team, you'll help deliver reliable, scalable services while gaining exposure to a wide range of technologies and modern engineering practices.
The Role
You'll be responsible for supporting and enhancing Linux-based engineering platforms, ensuring the availability, performance and security of business-critical services. Working closely with development teams, you'll help improve deployment processes, maintain infrastructure and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux-based platforms supporting engineering teams
- Support internally hosted applications and engineering tooling across secure environments
- Assist with platform deployments, upgrades and ongoing maintenance activities
- Work closely with software development teams to improve build, deployment and configuration processes
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues to ensure high service availability
- Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the platform estate
- Support secure, on-premise environments with a strong focus on reliability and performance
Skills & Experience
- Commercial experience administering Linux environments
- Knowledge of networking principles and infrastructure technologies
- Experience supporting internally hosted applications or platforms
- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins or similar build and deployment tooling
- Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence or Bitbucket would be beneficial
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Azure DevOps or other automation technologies would be advantageous
- Understanding of PKI or secure environments is desirable but not essential
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive and inquisitive approach to problem solving
