Linux SysAdmin Engineer (RHEL)
Hays are now looking for a Linux SysAdmin Engineer (RHEL) for one of our local clients:
£385 p/d Inside IR35
6-12 month contract
Remote
Eligible for BPSS and SC clearance
We're looking for an experienced Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator to support and maintain enterprise Linux infrastructure. The role will focus on system administration, automation, virtualization and platform lifecycle management, ensuring secure, reliable and highly available services across the environment.
What you'll be doing
- Administer, maintain and optimise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Configure and manage virtualised infrastructure using KVM and related technologies.
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for system automation, deployments and configuration management.
- Manage patching, provisioning and lifecycle activities using Red Hat Satellite.
- Create and maintain Shell/Bash scripts to automate operational tasks and system processes.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Manage servers and platforms through the Linux command line interface.
- Support system upgrades, deployments and infrastructure improvements.
- Work closely with security, development and delivery teams to ensure platform stability and compliance.
- Contribute to operational documentation, standards and best practices.

What we're looking for
- Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Advanced Linux command line (CLI) skills.
- Proven Shell/Bash scripting experience for automation and systems management.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Experience managing virtualisation platforms, particularly KVM.
- Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite for patching, provisioning and lifecycle management.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills across Linux environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale production systems.
- Understanding of security, patch management and platform compliance requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in an Agile or project-based environment.
