Linux Systems Engineer Contract (DV) - Paying between £800 to £950 Per Day, Inside IR35, Based near Reading, Hybrid Working, 6 Month Contract, To Start ASAP

Your new role

An experienced Linux Systems Engineer is required to join a DevOps-focused team supporting a large scale data platform that delivers advanced cybersecurity and data analytics capabilities.

You'll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Linux infrastructure, driving automation initiatives, supporting VMware environments, and troubleshooting complex issues across enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and optimise Linux server environments (RHEL, Rocky Linux or similar)
  • Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible
  • Troubleshoot OS, networking, storage and performance issues
  • Support Windows Server integrations where required
  • Deliver patching, security hardening and compliance activities
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers

  • Strong Linux administration experience
  • VMware vSphere/ESXi
  • Ansible or similar automation tools
  • Bash scripting
  • Networking, storage and permissions knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
