We are seeking ambitious, driven candidates to join our dynamic counter-fraud team, the largest and longest-established in the UK. This is an opportunity for an experienced Litigated File Handler to join a collaborative, results-driven environment where legal excellence meets exceptional client outcomes.

The Role
The NDA File Handler will work within a cross-functional team of fraud specialists and legal support staff, focusing exclusively on suspected fraudulent RTA (Road Traffic Accident) claims. You’ll manage high-profile cases from litigation initiation through to resolution, aligning closely with sophisticated claims handlers and Lead Lawyers to deliver sustainable commercial outcomes.
This role is highly analytical, requiring strong decision-making skills within set timelines. You’ll operate with strategic foresight, identifying litigation opportunities and shaping counter-fraud strategies for the future.
Caseload Scope (Key Fraud Types)
Your caseload will include a range of statistically driven suffering fraudulent insurance claims, categorised under:
- Bogus Passenger
- Staged/Contrived Claims
- Fraudulent Exaggeration
- Induced Accidents
- Low-Speed Impact Scams
- Late Notification Claims
- Credit Hire Fraud
- MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau) Cases
- Linked & Organised Crime Syndicates
Key Responsibilities
Case Management Framework
Strategic Excellence
- Conduct a forensically thorough review of all evidence across the life of each case
- Collaborate with clients on case strategy alignment, adhering toLead Lawyer and Technical Leads’ guidelines (KYO, generic strategies)
- Proactively enforce defined process stages
- Identify strategic litigation opportunities and escalate complex cases when necessary
- Track client trends and proactively raise profiling opportunities

Client Excellence
- Manage files non-delegated with adherence to client-specific guidelines
- Ensure maximum client satisfaction at every stage
- Maintain accurate and timely reports for internal management information (MI)
- Achieve and exceed client and internal KPIs
Technical Excellence
- Report to insurer clients throughout the litigated claim lifecycle
- Liaise with key stakeholders (experts, advocates, internal teammates) to execute agreed investigations
- Comply with all procedural and investigative deadlines
- Optimise litigation outcomes using procedural tactical advantages
- Escalate advocacy where cost-appropriate to resolve cases effectively
- Delegate tasks delegated only to assistants for cost-effective progress
- Timely and stringent documentation in case management systems (from opening to closure)
- Maintain file management policies and SRA Standards & Regulations compliance
Financial Excellence
- Demonstrate high-level commercial acumen–cost efficiency, profitability retention, and attainment/target compliance -Manage sources of record against audit
- Ensure timely and accurate billing processes

Working Conditions & Benefits
Working Hours
- 35 hours per week
- Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, inclusive of 1 unpaid hour for lunch
- Primary location: Bolton, Parklands Office
- Flexibility: Agile work model with at least one office day per week
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Essential:
- Experience in litigated civil claims handling or provenance as a File Handler (ILEX/LPC qualification acceptable)
- In-depth knowledge of insurance litigation schedules, indemnity principles, and the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
- Fluent advocacy and client care skills (demonstrap practical alignment to external client guidelines)
- Analytical mindset, prior experience in linked/organised fraud desirable

- Technical Requirements:
- Time recording/billing systems expertise
- Proficient IT skills – documentation, research, and client communication tools
Desirable but Impactful Preference
- Solicitor/CILEX qualification with practice rights
- Counter-fraud arbitrated venue as add-on
