Paralegal - Property Insurance

Location

Birmingham

Hybrid/On Site

Hybrid (during the initial training period, office attendance will be required three days per week. Once training is completed, this will reduce to one day per week.)

Our Property Insurance Team

Our Property Insurance team works with many of the UK's leading property insurers, handling a wide range of claims arising from fires, floods, escapes of water, storms, explosions, vehicle impacts, and other causes of property damage. The team manages a mixture of high-profile and high-value matters and is continuing to grow as we win work from both existing and new clients.

You'll be joining a knowledgeable, supportive, and highly respected team that is known for delivering excellent results while developing strong relationships across the industry. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to varied insurance-funded disputes and advisory matters while developing your technical expertise alongside experienced lawyers in a collaborative and growing environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assisting with a varied caseload of insurance-funded disputes and advisory matters for insurers, policyholders, and commercial clients.
  • Handling matters across a broad range of disputes, including landlord and tenant, contractual, consumer, property, construction, and employment matters.
  • Conducting policy coverage assessments and supporting legal expenses insurance advice.
  • Drafting clear and concise pleadings, correspondence, reports, and legal advice.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurer clients, brokers, and policyholders.
  • Managing client communications, providing updates, and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex and higher-value matters.
  • Assisting with the progression of litigated and pre-litigation files from inception through to resolution.
  • Providing practical and commercially focused legal support under supervision.

What Do I Need?

  • Previous litigation, legal, insurance, or paralegal experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • A degree, preferably in Law, is advantageous but not a strict requirement.
  • Ability to work independently on routine matters while recognizing when to seek guidance.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence working both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the confidence to challenge information where appropriate.
  • Experience or an interest in drafting pleadings, correspondence, and legal advice.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload of litigated and pre-litigation matters appropriate to your level of experience.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated approach to work.
  • A willingness to learn, develop technical expertise, and build a long-term career within legal services.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and achieve performance targets.
