Opportunity: Litigation Lawyer (5-8 PQE)

Location: Cheltenham | Hybrid & Flexible Working
Salary: Up to £80,000 + Bonus

A chance to build something, not just inherit a caseload.
We're working with a boutique Cheltenham firm whose Dispute Resolution team is already going from strength to strength and they're looking for an experienced Litigation Solicitor to help take it to the next level.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be given a desk, a caseload and a target.
They're looking for someone at 5-8 PQE who wants to have a real influence on the direction of a department, develop client relationships and play a key part in its continued growth.

The Role:

You'll handle a varied disputes caseload, acting for businesses and individuals across areas including:

  • Commercial and contractual disputes
  • Company and partnership disputes
  • Professional negligence claims
  • Building, construction and engineering disputes
  • Debt recovery and enforcement
  • High-value litigation, including matters in the High Court

The team takes a pragmatic approach to disputes. Litigation isn't pursued for the sake of it - where a client's objectives can be achieved through negotiation, mediation or another form of ADR, that is explored too.
You'll have the autonomy to manage your own matters and clients, while also having the opportunity to help shape how the department develops.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

This is a role with influence. The department has an established client base and a strong reputation but there's plenty of scope for the right person to bring ideas, develop relationships and help drive its next stage of growth.
Quality over size. The firm was founded by lawyers who had experienced larger firms and wanted to take the best bits: excellent lawyers, high-quality work and strong client relationships, without the unnecessary hierarchy, bureaucracy and presenteeism.
A different culture. People are trusted to get their work done. There isn't a culture of staying late just to be seen and flexibility is built around the reality that people have lives outside work.
A strong client base. Much of the firm's work has come through reputation and word of mouth, with clients ranging from regional businesses to major national PLCs.
Room to make your mark. If you're at the stage of your career where you want more than just progression on paper, this gives you the chance to have a say in the growth of a department and the wider firm.

What's On Offer?

  • Bonus scheme
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • Enhanced pension
  • Private medical insurance and cashback medical scheme
  • Free access to a wealth adviser
  • Laptop and mobile phone provided
  • Support with professional accreditations and further study
  • Progression opportunities
  • The opportunity to play a key role in developing a growing litigation practice
