Litigation Paralegal – Housing Disrepair
Location: North Finchley, London
Salary: Up to £35,000 + Performance Bonus (OTE up to £45,000)
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our expanding Housing Disrepair litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing law firm specialising in Housing Disrepair claims and civil litigation. The successful candidate will assist with a varied caseload of Housing Disrepair matters, working closely with fee earners and clients from initial instruction through to settlement or conclusion.
You will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload, develop your litigation expertise, and progress your career within a supportive and fast-paced legal environment. The role also offers an attractive performance-based bonus scheme, with OTE of up to £45,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and progress a caseload of Housing Disrepair claims from initial instruction through to settlement or conclusion.
- Assist fee earners with the conduct of Housing Disrepair litigation matters.
- Conduct initial case reviews and assess the merits, evidence, and prospects of claims.
- Draft letters of claim, pleadings, witness statements, applications, and legal correspondence.
- Prepare and issue court proceedings where appropriate.
- Prepare court bundles, disclosure documents, schedules of damages, and other litigation documentation.
- Work in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant pre-action protocols.
- Liaise with clients, defendants, solicitors, counsel, experts, surveyors, courts, and other relevant parties.
- Assist with negotiations and settlement of Housing Disrepair claims.
- Monitor court directions, limitation dates, deadlines, and key case milestones.
- Review and assess evidence relating to property condition, disrepair, repairs, inspections, and associated losses.
- Assist with assessing quantum, damages, costs, litigation risks, and prospects of success.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic case files and case management records.
- Provide clear and professional communication to clients throughout the litigation process.
- Manage client expectations and ensure matters progress efficiently.
- Meet agreed performance, quality, financial, and file progression targets.

Requirements
- 2–3 years' experience working within a litigation environment.
- Previous experience handling Housing Disrepair claims is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and civil litigation procedures.
- Experience drafting pleadings, witness statements, applications, court documents, and legal correspondence.
- Previous experience issuing proceedings and filing documents with the courts.
- Good understanding of litigation costs, damages, risks, and case management.
- Experience managing a caseload with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Commercially aware with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
- Confident dealing with clients, opponents, courts, experts, and other professionals.
- A proactive, hardworking, and professional approach with a strong commitment to client service.

Desirable
- Previous experience handling a Housing Disrepair caseload.
- Experience managing a personal caseload from instruction through to settlement.
- Experience dealing with contested Housing Disrepair matters and court proceedings.
- Knowledge of housing law, landlord and tenant matters, and disrepair claims.
- Good understanding of litigation costs and funding arrangements.
- Experience working to legal targets, KPIs, and financial performance objectives.
- Experience using legal case management systems.
