Litigation Solicitor
Salary: c. £52,000
Location: South Wales / Homeworking
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours – flexible and reduced hours considered

Moxie People is partnering with a South Wales local authority to recruit a permanent Litigation Solicitor into its established Legal Services team.
And here's the important bit: you don't need previous local authority experience.
The team is genuinely open to solicitors coming directly from private practice who have a grounding in litigation, court procedures and advocacy and would like to take their career in a different direction.
What's the role?
This is a broad in-house litigation position, providing legal advice and support across a varied range of council services.
The caseload will include:
- Civil litigation
- Criminal and regulatory litigation
- Advocacy in the Magistrates' and Civil Courts
- Advising on court procedure and evidence
- Providing practical legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Managing varied contentious matters from instruction through to resolution

What are we looking for?
The brief is refreshingly open. You'll need to be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate, with advocacy experience before the courts and a sound understanding of court procedure and evidence.
Your background could be in:
- Civil litigation
- Dispute resolution
- Property or housing litigation
- Regulatory work
- Prosecutions
- General litigation
- Another contentious discipline with relevant court and advocacy experience
Previous local government experience isn't essential, and applications are welcomed from lawyers at different stages of their career, including those relatively recently qualified.

The organisation is also open-minded about working patterns. Although the position is 37 hours full time, 3.5 or 4-day arrangements can be considered for the right person.
The role is designated as a homeworker position, with travel required when necessary for court, meetings and other work commitments. A driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours are therefore required.
This could be a great move for a private-practice litigator looking for better balance, a solicitor considering their first move in-house, or an experienced lawyer wanting flexibility without stepping away from interesting and meaningful legal work.
