Property Litigation – Solicitor

Location: London
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time

A specialist and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Property Litigation Solicitor to join its established property litigation team.

The firm is recognised for its technical expertise in property finance, lender recovery and contentious litigation, acting for institutional and challenger lenders on high-value and complex recovery matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with previous litigation experience to join a specialist, lender-focused practice handling a varied caseload of property litigation and recovery matters.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced lawyers and leading lender clients, taking responsibility for a varied caseload while developing their technical expertise within a supportive and commercially focused environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a solicitor litigation role.
  • Experience in Property Litigation is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the possession claim framework would be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lender-focused environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with a high degree of autonomy.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to develop technical knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of bankruptcy and insolvency would be beneficial.
  • Experience involving professional negligence, breach of duty by solicitors, breach of undertaking or negligent valuations would also be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing possession claims from issue of formal demand through to enforcement.
  • Issuing claims, preparing witness statements for hearings and briefing counsel.
  • Dealing with urgent applications.
  • Understanding and advising clients regarding authorised and unauthorised tenancies.
  • Pursuing monetary claims in the event of a shortfall.
  • Handling applications for charging orders and orders for sale using the Part 8 procedure.
  • Managing all aspects of multi-track case management, including budgeting, directions, disclosure, bundles and trial witness statements.
  • Managing mediation and Part 36 offers.
  • Analysing claims and advising clients on merits and strategy.
  • Drafting consent orders, Tomlin orders and settlement agreements.
  • Ensuring clients are kept fully informed as matters progress.
  • Assisting clients with ad hoc enquiries.
  • Dealing with matters concerning professional negligence, breach of duty by solicitors, breach of undertaking and negligent valuations.
