Salary
£30,024 – £32,061 FTE / £14,200 – £15,163 for 17.5 hours per week, depending on experience
Hours
17.5 hours per week, normally Monday to Friday, with flexibility over the working pattern by agreement. Occasional evening Council/Committee meetings are required.
Our Council And The Role
Littleton & Harestock Parish Council is looking for a Deputy Clerk to join its team. This is a senior role supporting the Clerk with the managerial, administrative and financial operations of the Council and deputising for the Clerk in their absence. The role provides an opportunity to support the local community, deliver high-quality services, manage projects and work closely with councillors, residents, contractors and partner organisations.
Duties Will Include
- Preparing agendas, attending meetings and taking minutes.
- Assisting the Clerk with implementing Council and Committee decisions.
- Deputising for the Clerk and supervising contractors when required.
- Managing projects as required.
- Managing the day-to-day administration of the Parish Office and its systems.
- Maintaining and developing the Council website.
- Operating accounts and payroll systems when required.
- Assisting with budget preparation and managing petty cash.
- Preparing and distributing the Parish Council e-newsletter.
- Working with the Estates team and Sports Clubs regarding recreation grounds and playgrounds.
- Working with the planning authority on planning applications.
- Supporting health and safety work.
- Liaising with councillors, residents, contractors, other local authorities and partner organisations.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have/be
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Proven organisational, administrative and managerial skills.
- Experience of finance and budget control.
- A strong community focus and commitment to developing Council services.
- The ability to work effectively with councillors, residents, local groups, contractors and other organisations.
- Previous Local Government experience is desirable.
- CiLCA qualification is desirable. Candidates without CiLCA will be supported to achieve the qualification within 18 months, with training, funding and study leave provided.
- Able to attend occasional evening meetings and undertake some outdoor working when required.

What We Offer You In Return
- 25 days' annual leave per annum plus bank holidays, pro rata, a workplace pension, comprehensive training, funding and study leave to achieve CiLCA, free parking and some opportunities for home working. Evening meetings will normally be compensated through TOIL.
