Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Care Assistant to join our team in Rochdale. In this meaningful role, you will reside in a client’s home and provide essential non-medical support, enabling our clients to maintain their independence and enjoy a high quality of life. As the primary point of contact, you will build professional relationships while delivering empathetic, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personal Care Support:
    • Assist clients with washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Meal Preparation & Nutrition:
    • Help prepare meals, ensuring nutritional needs and dietary requirements are met.
  • Housekeeping & Safety:
    • Perform light housekeeping tasks (cleaning, laundry) to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Social Engagement & Outings:
    • Accompany clients to appointments, outings, and social activities to enhance their wellbeing.
  • Medication & Health Monitoring:
    • Provide medication reminders and support with prescriptions as directed.
    • Monitor health and wellbeing changes, reporting concerns to healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Record-Keeping & Communication:
    • Maintain detailed, accurate care records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the care team to deliver consistent support.
  • Professional & Flexible Support:
    • Respond promptly to client needs, demonstrating flexibility, problem-solving, and professionalism.
    • Identify and report safeguarding concerns or hazards to ensure safety.
    • Encourage client independence while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum one year's experience providing support to clients with dementia.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and duty of care responsibilities.
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients.
  • Strong reliability, time management, and ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Willingness to undergo Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and promoting client dignity and independence.
