Location: St Ives Bay Coastal Resort, Hayle, Cornwall

Hours: Seasonal contract – Night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.

Typical shift pattern: 10:00 pm – 7:00 am (subject to operational requirements).

Salary: £12.71 per hour – Paid weekly!

What We Need In a Nutshell

This is not your typical Security role. The Live-In Night Porter is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of the holiday park during overnight hours. Working independently throughout the night, with management available on an on-call basis, the successful candidate will be responsible for guest welfare, security, emergency response, routine checks, and maintaining the park to a high standard until the daytime team returns.

Some of the background

We’re not your average holiday company. Our guests come to our UK resorts to experience a world away from their day-to-day. When they are with us, they enjoy show-stopping entertainment and live in the moment. Our job is to surprise and delight them at every turn.

We need your previous experience in a similar role, where you will join our team and deliver delight by being the person our holiday makers can rely upon, keeping them safe and being there when they need help.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be making sure the park is secure and safe, predominantly during the evenings and overnight. You will be a reassuring presence for guests and you’ll be there in an emergency. It’s a varied and exciting job with responsibilities that include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Welcoming guests into our park at the entrance and monitoring vehicles that wish to gain access
  • Patrolling the park by foot and vehicle, ensuring the perimeters are secure and all is well within the park
  • Occasional door duties and checking the passes of guests using the entertainment complex
  • Helping guests with out-of-hours problems and delivering gas on the occasion a guest may have run out
  • Dealing with any conflict/security/service related issues and taking a proactive approach wherever possible

And who knows what else you may find yourself doing. As long as you’re happy to help even when it’s ‘not your job,’ you’re our sort of person.

One more thing…holidays happen at holiday times, so you will need to work your magic on the majority of bank holidays and weekends too.

Skills, Experience And Qualities You’ll Need

This is a great role for the right person and we will provide full training and induction, so lots of experience is not as important as the right attitude. The only ‘must-haves’ are:

  • Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, security, or a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work alone and remain confident when managing the holiday park during overnight hours
  • Ability to assess situations, make sound decisions, and use initiative without direct supervision
  • Comfortable acting as the primary point of contact on site during the night, with management support available via an on-call rota
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Good level of physical fitness for regular patrols
  • Basic IT skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Driving License Essential
