About the Role

A private family of four is seeking an experienced and highly capable Live-in Travelling Housekeeper to join them on a permanent basis. This is a travelling position covering several private residences, with the family’s main home situated in Knightsbridge, London, alongside a country residence in the UK and properties in Switzerland and Greece. The family regularly moves between their homes throughout the year, and the successful candidate will be expected to travel with them when required. The position would therefore be particularly well suited to someone who enjoys travelling, is adaptable by nature and is comfortable maintaining the same high standards regardless of the location.

Responsibilities

The successful Housekeeper will take pride in ensuring the family’s homes are beautifully maintained and presented at all times. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail is extremely important, with responsibility for the day-to-day housekeeping as well as the care and organisation of the family’s personal belongings. The ideal candidate will have strong previous experience within a private household and will be confident working to a very high standard while respecting the privacy and routines of the family.

A significant aspect of the position will be laundry, ironing and luxury garment care. The Housekeeper will be responsible for looking after a range of high-end and delicate clothing, ensuring garments are washed, pressed, stored and presented correctly. Excellent ironing and finishing skills are essential, together with a good understanding of different fabrics and appropriate garment care. The successful candidate will also assist with maintaining and organising the family’s wardrobes across their various residences, ensuring everything is kept in order and ready for use. Experience managing clothing inventories or keeping records of personal items would be particularly beneficial.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Travel preparation will also form an important part of the role. The Housekeeper will assist with packing and unpacking, ensuring clothing and personal belongings are prepared carefully for each trip and returned to their appropriate places on arrival. With the family travelling between several homes, the ability to keep track of belongings and maintain a well-organised approach is essential. The role will also involve assisting with household errands and other practical requests as they arise, together with occasional dog walking and general assistance with the family’s two small dogs.

Requirements

The successful candidate will work alongside other members of the household staff and should be comfortable being part of a collaborative team. At the same time, they should be capable of working independently, using their initiative and recognising what needs to be done without constant direction. Discretion, trustworthiness, reliability and professionalism are particularly important for this position, as is the ability to remain calm and flexible when the family’s plans or location change.

The household employs a Chef, therefore regular cooking is not required as part of the position. However, candidates who are confident in the kitchen and able to prepare simple meals or assist with cooking when necessary would be viewed favourably.

About the Family

The family is looking for someone who is genuinely experienced in private service and understands the standards expected within a high-end household.

Candidate Profile

Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ professional housekeeping experience, ideally gained within private residences, together with previous experience travelling with a family or working across multiple properties. Excellent laundry, ironing and garment-care skills are essential, as are strong organisational abilities and a meticulous eye for detail. Candidates should be fluent in English, hold the right to work in the UK and an EU passport, and be able to provide excellent, recent and contactable references. An up-to-date DBS certificate is required, although the successful candidate may be willing to obtain one if they do not currently hold one.

Other Details

The position is six days per week, working approximately ten hours per day, with flexibility required around the family’s travel schedule. Live-in accommodation is provided, including during periods when travelling with the family. Role to commence as soon as the right candidate is found.
