Fundraising Specialist with Lived Experience
Bromley Experts by Experience is a very small, yet ambitious, Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation. You’ll help us develop our approach to sustainable fundraising and income generation.
What difference will you make?
Fundraising as a very small charity is tough right now. You’ll help us develop a plan of action for fundraising that is sustainable, deliverable and rooted in our values.
Like many small charities, we don’t have a member of staff dedicated to fundraising, our CEO leads on this. You’ll be able to have a huge impact on our ability to reach new income streams.
The Fundraising Strategy trustee is vital to Bromley Experts by Experience. The organisation has gone through big changes in the last few years. With both a new and growing staff team and Trustee Board, we are committed to further developing new projects and services, based on input from members, that will create change for Disabled people.
It’s an exciting time at Bromley Experts by Experience, in the last year, we secured our biggest ever funding agreement, from the National Lottery. The funding is for a new Youth Transition Project, enabling us to reach young Disabled people across Bromley and neighbouring boroughs.
What are we looking for?
- Lived Experience of being Deaf and/or Disabled (Can be self-identified, see above for definition)
- A belief that Disabled people can and should be actively welcomed and included in our communities. An understanding that it is barriers in society that make that harder. This is called the Social Model of Disability.
- Fundraising expertise and experience, ideally in a small charity context.
- Experience of fundraising through grants and trusts, and if possible other fundraising streams (such as corporate, CSR, individual giving etc)
- Experience of how Trustee Boards operate and of effective charity governance
- Strong organisational skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, communicating in a way that is accessible to you.
- Integrity, objectivity, accountability, and honesty.
- An effective team worker, contributing an independent perspective.
- Understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and the financial aspects of running a charity.
- A genuine interest in local communities and people.
- Commitment to Bromley Experts by Experience’s aims, objectives and values.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
