At Rethink Mental Illness, we believe everyone severely affected by mental illness deserves hope, support and the opportunity to live the life they want. We're looking for a compassionate, resilient and motivated Mental Health & Wellbeing Coach to join our innovative Living Well Service and help shape the future of neighbourhood mental health support across Derbyshire.
This is more than a support role. You'll work alongside people experiencing complex mental health challenges, helping them build confidence, develop self-management skills and connect with opportunities that improve their wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
About the role
As a Wellbeing Coach, you'll be embedded within a multi-disciplinary team, working in partnership with local organisations and services to provide person-centred, recovery-focused support. You'll empower people to identify what matters most to them, develop achievable goals and access the right support at the right time.
No two days will look the same. You'll combine one-to-one coaching, group facilitation, community engagement and partnership working to help people overcome barriers and move forward in their recovery journey.
What you'll be doing
- Managing a caseload of people with complex mental health needs.
- Providing coaching, guidance and practical support through individual and group sessions.
- Supporting people to develop personalised wellbeing plans and achieve meaningful goals.
- Helping individuals access services such as housing, employment, education, welfare and debt support.
- Building confidence, resilience and self-management skills.
- Delivering workshops, group activities and peer support opportunities.
- Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, community partners and support networks.
- Contributing to service development, co-production and continuous improvement.
- Developing strong community links and identifying accessible local resources.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring excellent safeguarding and risk management practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
