LNG Analyst

A leading global commodities trading house is hiring an LNG Analyst to sit directly alongside the LNG trading desk in London. This is a high-impact analytics role focused on building and owning global LNG supply/demand views and country-level balances, with clear visibility to commercial decision-making.

You’ll be responsible for producing rigorous LNG fundamentals analysis and forecasts that support trading strategy, risk, and market positioning.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain global LNG supply & demand balances (end-to-end ownership).
  • Develop country / regional domestic balances (e.g., China, Japan, South Korea, wider Asia and other key LNG markets).
  • Create forecasts from the ground up (not simply inheriting third-party or legacy models).
  • Run and interpret forecast error analysis to continually improve model quality and confidence levels.
  • Communicate insights clearly to stakeholders on/near the trading floor, translating fundamentals into actionable market views.

Ideal background

  • Demonstrable experience building global LNG balances yourself.
  • Hands-on experience constructing market balances and explaining key drivers/assumptions.
  • Strong forecasting fundamentals and a track record of model ownership.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, performance-driven trading environment with direct desk interaction.
