LNG Business Analyst – LNG Trading

Location: London – Hybrid Working Contract: 6 Months Initial IR35: Outside IR35

We are looking for an experienced LNG Business Analyst to join a major transformation/change programme within a leading global commodities trading organisation.

This role requires a genuine LNG specialist with strong knowledge of LNG trading and the complete end-to-end trade lifecycle. You will work closely with Front Office, Operations, Risk, Finance, Technology and other stakeholders to analyse existing processes, define requirements and support the delivery of business and technology change across the LNG trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with LNG traders, operations, risk, finance and technology teams to understand business requirements and processes.
  • Analyse and document the end-to-end LNG trade lifecycle, from deal capture through scheduling, operations, risk, settlement and accounting.
  • Lead requirements gathering through workshops and discussions with Front Office and downstream business functions.
  • Produce detailed business requirements, functional specifications, process maps, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyse existing LNG trading workflows and identify process, system and data improvements.
  • Support change across LNG trading platforms and associated ETRM/CTRM systems.
  • Understand the interaction between physical LNG trading, shipping, scheduling, nominations, cargo operations and commercial processes.
  • Work with technology teams to translate complex LNG business requirements into deliverable solutions.
  • Support testing, UAT, implementation and business readiness activities.
  • Manage requirements and stakeholders across multiple functions throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Experience

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst within LNG trading.
  • Detailed understanding of the end-to-end LNG trade lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of physical LNG trading and associated operational processes.
  • Experience across areas such as deal capture, pricing, scheduling, nominations, shipping, cargo management, risk, P&L, invoicing and settlement.
  • Understanding of LNG contracts and commercial structures, including spot and term transactions.
  • Experience working with ETRM/CTRM platforms within a commodities trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of Front-to-Back trading processes and the interaction between Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, Risk and Finance.
  • Proven experience gathering and documenting complex business and functional requirements.
  • Strong process mapping and business analysis skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work directly with traders and senior business stakeholders.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working for a major energy trading house, commodity trader, oil & gas major or LNG organisation.
  • Knowledge of LNG shipping, vessel scheduling, cargo optimisation and associated operational processes.
  • Experience delivering ETRM/CTRM transformation, implementation or enhancement programmes.
  • Understanding of LNG pricing, exposure, valuation, P&L and risk management.
