LNG Trader

Our client is a national energy company seeking an experienced LNG Trader to join its London team. The role combines responsibility for international trading performance, commercial strategy, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the international LNG trading business’s profitability and P&L.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies across spot, short-term, and long-term markets.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and structure procurement and sales plans for individual transactions.
  • Evaluate potential LNG suppliers and conduct due diligence to support trading decisions.
  • Oversee trading contract execution, monitoring delivery against agreed commercial terms.
  • Prepare management reports covering trading performance, market developments, and commercial intelligence.
  • Manage trading processes in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and develop the team, promoting collaboration and setting clear performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of LNG or gas trading experience, supported by a proven commercial track record.
  • Established relationships with key participants across the LNG and gas markets.
  • Strong commercial judgement and experience managing international business activities.
  • Sound understanding of the global LNG and gas value chain, market dynamics, and trading practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant trade regulations, commercial contracts, and transaction terms.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder coordination, and communication skills, with an analytical approach and attention to detail.
