Job Description
This isn’t a job where you’ll spend all day behind the wheel of a loading shovel. You’ll be at the forefront of technology, training and operator development, using advanced simulator technology to train, assess and improve the skills of plant operators.
If you understand heavy plant, enjoy technology and like the idea of using data and simulation to make operators safer, more efficient and better at what they do, this could be the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating and managing our loading shovel simulator
- Supporting operator training, assessments and development
- Monitoring operator performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Helping new and existing operators develop their skills
- Recording and reporting simulator results and performance data
- Working alongside our Operations and Training teams
- Helping develop and improve our simulator-based training programmes
- Keeping simulator equipment and systems running effectively
- Supporting other plant training activities when required

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
