Loan Closer

Strategic Staffing Solutions customer is seeking a Loan Closer to join their team. This team plays a critical role in supporting the origination, syndication, and secondary trading of performing and non-performing loans, working closely with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, Credit Risk, and external counterparties to ensure transactions are accurately documented, approved, and settled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor internal trading systems for new primary and secondary loan trades.
  • Confirm trade details with counterparties and external market participants.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan transfer documentation, including Trade Confirmations and Transfer Certificates.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end loan closing process to ensure timely settlement.
  • Liaise with Trading, Sales, Legal, Compliance, Credit Risk, Agency, and Loan Servicing teams to obtain approvals and resolve settlement issues.
  • Review loan documentation and credit agreements to ensure transaction accuracy.
  • Reconcile pricing, cashflows, and settlement instructions across internal systems.
  • Investigate and resolve trade breaks and settlement exceptions.
  • Maintain accurate risk positions by ensuring transactions are processed correctly.
  • Build strong working relationships with borrowers, lenders, agents, and other external counterparties.
  • Support process improvements while maintaining a strong control and risk management mindset.

Required Experience

  • Experience within Loan Operations, Loan Closing, Loan Servicing, Loan Agency, Middle Office, or Settlements.
  • Experience supporting syndicated loans, corporate loans, leveraged loans, or secondary loan trading is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the loan settlement lifecycle.
  • Experience reviewing loan documentation and transfer agreements.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to interact with internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced investment banking or financial services environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving settlement issues.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience with syndicated loan closing or loan agency functions.
  • Familiarity with Loan Credit Agreements and transfer documentation.
  • Experience working within an investment bank or large financial institution.
  • Knowledge of loan servicing processes and agency operations.

Contract Details

  • Location: London
  • Working Pattern: Office-based, 5 days per week
  • Contract Length: 12 months (extension expected)
  • Rate: £400 per day (Inside IR35/Umbrella)
