Local Immigration Expert (UK) - Temporary Contract
Location: Filton (60% onsite)
Contract Length: Until October 2027 (with potential extension)
Hours: 35 hours per week over 4.5 days
Security Clearance: BPSS+
Rate: £46.82 per hour Umbrella / £35.00 per hour PAYE
Interview Process: One-stage virtual interview
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Local Immigration Expert to join their Global Mobility and HR Compliance function. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting UK immigration compliance, advising stakeholders across the business, and managing immigration processes for both international assignments and external recruitment activities.
Working closely with external immigration providers, HR teams, recruitment partners, managers, and government bodies, you will act as the subject matter expert for UK immigration matters and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and sponsorship obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on UK immigration, right-to-work requirements, visas, sponsorship, and mobility compliance.
- Act as the primary liaison with external immigration providers, ensuring cases are managed efficiently and compliantly.
- Support international assignments and business travel arrangements involving UK immigration requirements.
- Manage immigration activities for the recruitment of non-UK and non-Irish nationals, including visa and sponsorship processes.
- Monitor visa expiry dates and coordinate renewals and changes to employment applications.
- Ensure sponsor licence obligations and Home Office compliance requirements are met.
- Deliver immigration awareness sessions and provide guidance to HR teams, managers, recruiters, and employees.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and support immigration-related projects and initiatives.

About You
We're looking for a knowledgeable and proactive immigration specialist who can confidently advise stakeholders and manage complex immigration processes.

Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in UK immigration law and processes.
- Strong understanding of visas, sponsorship, right-to-work requirements, and compliance obligations.
- Experience providing immigration advice to employees, managers, and HR stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with external immigration providers and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance.
Desirable
- Degree or diploma in Labour Law.
- Experience supporting global mobility or international assignment programmes.
- Experience working in a large, complex organisation.
- Knowledge of sponsor licence management and Home Office reporting requirements.
