Full-time
Band 5 – $77,357 – $88,159 yearly, plus 12% statutory superannuation
The Local Laws Officer is responsible for managing domestic animal controls, ensuring traffic and parking compliance, supporting emergency services, and assisting with fire prevention strategies. The role also responds to community concerns, issues permits, and provides advice on Local Laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce local laws, traffic regulations, and state legislation.
- Manage domestic animals and livestock, including responding to complaints and emergencies.
- Prepare compliance reports, investigation briefs, and court documents.
- Support school crossing programs.
- Participate in emergency management and fire prevention activities.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate strong judgement, resilience, and the ability to engage professionally with the community.
Requirements Include
- Knowledge of local laws, traffic regulations, and animal management legislation.
- Experience investigating compliance matters and preparing court briefs (training will be provided if required).
- Certificate IV in Animal Management (preferred) or relevant experience.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work with animals and livestock.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.
- Availability to work after hours as required.
Training
Training will be provided in relevant legislation, compliance processes, and the preparation of court briefing documents.
