We’re recruiting for a G7 Local Prevention data Lead, here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative, to be part of our warm and collaborative Cross-Government and Academia team, which is part of the Better Outcomes through Linked Data (BOLD) partnership.
Public services collect a large amount of data which is used to improve the quality of services offered to the public, but it is often not shared between organisations, making it difficult to understand whether certain services have been effective.
This role sits within the BOLD Prevention workstream, which supports cross-government efforts to improve outcomes for people with multiple needs. The workstream aims to enhance data sharing across organisations, deepen our understanding of individuals' needs, and provide earlier, better-quality information to support decision-making.
This role will lead the development of national-local data products with local authority partners, including linked national justice-local resident datasets, creating a single view of residents needs and experiences to surface to the frontline and developing a scalable frontline tool that can be shared with other areas. The post holder will lead analysis to the data to provide insights to support the national plan to end homelessness, reducing reoffending strategy and place based policy making.
This post requires working closely with data and digital professionals to deliver the products, as well as analysts, policymakers, operational partners, and data providers across government and other organisations.
You’ll receive a range of excellent benefits when you join our department, including:
- A generous employer pension contribution of 28.97% through the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
- 25 days of annual leave, (increasing to 30 days once you have reached 5 years of service), plus 8 bank holidays and a privilege day for the King’s birthday.
- Flexible working arrangements including hybrid working, working part time or compressed hours. Designed to support a positive work–life balance.
- Employees are allocated 10% of their working time for personal and professional development.
- A £1k per person learning budget is in place to support all our people, with access to best-in-class conferences and seminars, accreditation with professional bodies, fully funded vocational programmes and e-learning platforms.
- Compassionate maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave policies, with up to 26 weeks leave at full pay, 13 weeks with partial pay, and 13 weeks further leave. And maternity support/paternity leave at full pay for 2 weeks, too!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
