Job Title: Locally Employed Doctor and SAS Tutor
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration: 36 months

Main duties of the job
The opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated clinician with an interest in education to join the Medical Education Team as LED and SAS Tutor working 1 PA per week.
This is a rewarding leadership role championing the needs of locally employed doctors and SAS doctors within the organisation.
You will support the education, training and professional development of SAS and locally employed doctors.
- You will be working alongside Portfolio Pathway Lead; Foundation Fellowship Programme Leads and Divisional Directors of Medical Education.
- In this role you will be supported to enhance your skills in Medical Education Leadership.
This role is best suited for someone with excellent communication and leadership skills who is passionate about medical education.
- A working knowledge of the locally employed doctor charter is advantageous.
- Commitment to improving the training experience of SAS and locally employed doctors would be expected.

Person specification
Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate education qualification
- Previous educational role
Aptitudes and skills
Essential criteria
- Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
- Awareness of LED charter
- Understanding of equality and diversity and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
- Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English)
- Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of leadership in Education
- Understanding of medical prioritisation bill
