What does the average day look like?
We need our Locking Team to:
- Work safely at all times, ensuring that work carried out by the team is undertaken safely, expertly and in line with the relevant NR standards.
- Carry out Signalling maintenance work according to correct specification and as instructed
- Undertake rapid response and on-call duties when rostered to do so.
- Ensure the safe keeping and correct use of tools and equipment.
- Have excellent engineering manual dexterity alongside excellent fault-finding skills
About The Team..
In joining our Locking Team you'll be part of a dedicated and skilled team who utilise traditional engineering skills to help maintain a safe, reliable mechanical signalling system.
Your Experience And Skills
Who are we looking for?
For a Team Leader Post Grade 4
As a Locking Team Leader, you will have experience in signalling systems including mechanical signalling equipment, you will also have experience in organising and motivating your team. Day-to-day you will ensure that the teams work is undertaken safely, expertly and in line with the relevant standards. You will undertake, direct inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal work as allocated.
Essential Criteria
- A good understanding and knowledge of working within locking fitting, signalling or similar engineering equipment or experience working in a maintenance environment
- Excellent manual dexterity skills
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- The ability to communicate effectively
- A full UK driving licence
- Able and willing to work shifts

- Ideally a Personal Track Safety (PTS) card holder and IRSE Licence in category 1.2.515.
- Able to work well in a team environment where safety is paramount
- Ideally able to show previous experience leading teams

Personal Track Safety Competence
This role is safety critical and will require a medical and/or Personal Track Safety Competence.
Personal Track Safety (PTS) is a set of safety regulations and procedures that individuals must adhere to when working on or near the tracks of the UK rail network.
Drugs And Alcohol Standard
For some of our roles all prospective external candidates offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
