Job Title: Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Palliative Care (Oncology)
Banding: Band 7 / 8a
Working Hours: 3 days per week
Contract: Temporary/Locum (ASAP until end of September)
Salary: Competitive hourly rate (Band-aligned)
This locum opportunity places you at the heart of specialist oncology and palliative care service in the West Midlands. You will join a compassionate multidisciplinary team, offering psychological expertise that truly shapes patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist psychological assessments for individuals referred to the service, tailoring your approach to their unique needs.
- Provide evidence-based interventions including ACT, CFT, and CBT to support patients, carers, and families as they navigate diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life challenges.
- Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues.
- Offer consultation and reflective support to staff managing complex emotional presentations.
- Maintain high-quality clinical records in line with professional standards.

Qualifications & Experience
- HCPC registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
- Desirable: Experience within palliative care, oncology, health psychology, adult mental health, or other emotionally complex clinical settings is highly valued.
- Confidence working autonomously and collaboratively within MDT environments.
- Newly qualified psychologists or those without direct oncology experience are still encouraged to apply — transferable skills are welcomed.
