Locum Commercial & Procurement Lawyer (Subsidy Control) – Full Time – Remote Working – Up to £65 per hour umbrella – Initial 3+ months

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is currently recruiting for an experienced Locum Commercial & Procurement Lawyer to join a well-regarded Local Authority on an interim basis. Offering fully remote working, this role provides excellent flexibility and the opportunity to work within a supportive and collaborative legal team.

The Role:

  • Position: Locum Commercial & Procurement Lawyer
  • Working Arrangement: Full Time, Remote Working
  • Rate: Up to £65 per hour umbrella
  • Duration: Initial 3+ months with the possibility for extension

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of commercial contracts, procurement and subsidy control matters
  • Provide specialist legal advice on subsidy control, including assessing proposed subsidies and schemes and advising on compliance with the Subsidy Control Act 2022
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, contracts and associated documentation
  • Advise on public procurement matters and support procurement exercises in accordance with the relevant legislation and local authority governance requirements
  • Provide advice on grant funding, funding agreements and other financial assistance arrangements

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial contracts and procurement law, ideally gained within a Local Authority or wider Public Sector environment
  • Strong knowledge of public procurement legislation and commercial contracting
  • Experience of advising on subsidy control matters is highly desirable, with the ability to provide practical advice on compliance with the Subsidy Control Act 2022
