The symptomatic breast work of the new post will involve one-stop clinics and further assessment of the recalled patient.

Participation at MDT meetings and the reporting of MRI and staging CT expected. Depending on the experience and professional development aspirations of the post holder, the role may also involve stereo core biopsies, MRI guided biopsies, CT angiography pre-reconstruction and ultrasound guided VAEs.

Qualifications & Registration

Essential criteria

• MBBS and FRCR or equivalent
• Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.
• Must have a CCT in Clinical Radiology or equivalent and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of the appointment. Specialist Registrars that do not hold a CCT must be due to be awarded one within 6 months of the interview date

Desirable criteria

• Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD)

Training & Experience

Essential criteria

• Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience including higher Radiology training, 5 years as a Radiology registrar in an approved training post or equivalent
• Experience in Breast clinical examination, assessment and one-stop clinics
• Breast interventions procedures including ultrasound guided and stereo core and VAB biopsies, fine needle aspirations and wire localisations under mammographic and ultrasound guidance
• Proficient in General and cross-sectional radiology

Management Audit Training

Essential criteria

• Experience in audit projects
• Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues
• Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies

Desirable criteria

• Completion of a general management course or programme

Research Teaching Publications

Essential criteria

• Knowledge of principles of research
• Proven teaching ability
• Willingness to undertake teaching of medical under-graduates & postgraduates

Desirable criteria

• Research experience
• Evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals
• Demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management
