About the Department

The Department of Gastroenterology in East Kent Hospitals is expanding and seeking enthusiastic new colleagues to join our team. We provide a 7-day Consultant-led gastroenterology inpatient service at Ashford and Margate hospitals, a 24/7 GI Bleed rota, and specialize in Nutrition, IBD, Hepatology, HPB, UGI Cancer, complex polypectomy, ERCP, Bowel Cancer Screening, and capsule endoscopy. Our Endoscopy Services operate from Canterbury, Margate, and Ashford hospitals.

Role Overview

We are looking for two new consultants to be based at William Harvey Hospital, joining a team of 8 full-time consultants. The post holders will support the site-based GI Bleeding rota (1 in 8) and provide two OPD clinics and two general endoscopy lists per week during elective working weeks. They will also have a session dedicated to a specialist interest and/or leadership role. SPA (1-2 PA) will be allocated to support revalidation, service development, and supervision of trainees. Variations in this pattern may be negotiable based on individual and departmental service requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
