Applications Invited for a Twelve Month Locum General Surgery Consultant with an Interest in Colorectal Surgery

The successful candidate will join the enthusiastic team of general surgeons providing acute and elective general surgical services at Harrogate and District Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The General Surgical department is supported by:

  • 1 Associate Specialist
  • 8 Specialty Doctors
  • 2 Specialist Registrars
  • 8 Doctors in Training (FY1/FY2 and CT combination)

Additionally, the department has:

  • 2 GI Nurse specialists
  • 5 Nurse endoscopists
  • A team of IBD Nurses supporting the colorectal service

The successful candidate would be welcomed into a dynamic multidisciplinary team where we are proud of the service we provide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Become a core member of the colorectal MDT
  • Perform surgery for colorectal cancer
  • Develop a subspecialist interest in any aspect of lower gastrointestinal surgery

The Trust is the provider of Bowel Cancer Screening and is a leading organisation for laparoscopic surgery. The post will include a 1 in 8 on call rota. The department prides itself on team working and close collaboration with clinical colleagues to provide a high quality general surgical service.

Requirements

All applicants must possess:

  • Specialist Registration with the GMC
  • Or be within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCST or equivalent in General Surgery
  • FRCS or equivalent
  • JAG accreditation for colonoscopy
