Job Overview
This is a fixed term post, supporting consultant delivered care and resident doctor training through alternative models of working. There will be a general commitment in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The post holder will be expected to show a commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, and a qualification in medical education would be desirable, in addition to the special interests.
The successful applicant will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd for clinical activities although the research component may be spread across the three acute sites.
Main Duties of the Job
The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team is essential. Applicants must be both flexible in their approach and be ready to meet the challenges presented by the evolving health service changes in North Wales.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of work including outpatient clinic sessions in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, labour ward and gynaecology operating theatre lists in addition to the hybrid resident/ non-resident on-call rota. At present all Consultants participate in twilight cover as resident on call.
Consultants are expected to be physically on site while providing labour ward cover during working hours. The Consultant will not provide any other cover e.g., ANC or GOPD while covering Labour ward.

BCUHB provides a full range of primary, community, mental health, acute and specialist hospital services for the population of North Wales, across 3 acute hospitals and a network of community hospitals, health centres, clinics, and mental health units. It also co-ordinates or provides the work of GP practices and NHS services provided by dentists, opticians, and pharmacists across the region.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- MRCOG or equivalent appropriate specialist registration
- RCOG Gynae Oncology ATSM/ or Benign Gynae (or equivalent)
- Colposcopy accreditation if undertaking Colposcopy
Desirable criteria
- GMC Specialist Registration in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Additional relevant degree
- RCOG Vulval disease ATSM or equivalent

Essential Criteria
- Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for UK CCST
- Appropriate level of experience in training grade posts at SpR, SR, ST grade
Desirable criteria
- Appropriate level of training and experience leading to accreditation for GMC Specialist Registration
- Additional clinical experience/ training required for the role
Leadership and Management
Essential Criteria
- Proven engagement in management activities
- Evidence of effective service development
- Experience of supervising staff
- Excellent Leadership skills
- Excellent Management skills
Desirable criteria
- Qualification/ evidence of management and administration experience
- Teaching qualification
- Evidence of audit/Quality improvement projects
