Full-time Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a full-time Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. This post is one focusing on general OMFS with the opportunity to expand into a sub-specialty of choice. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team of supportive consultants providing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Services to the County of Shropshire and a substantial part of the adjacent Welsh County of Powys.

Main Clinical Duties Include

  • We are looking for a consultant colleague to undertake work in the generality of OMFS which covers patient streams from both Telford & Shrewsbury.
  • The post will also include dedicated new 2 week wait pathway clinics.
  • There will be an opportunity to expand the scope of practice in a sub-specialty of interest depending on service needs.
  • You will undertake Outpatient Clinics at both Hospitals with a main inpatient base and dedicated Head and Neck ward at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
  • You will undertake both daycase and inpatient operating which is mostly based at the Royal Princess Hospital at Telford. There is the main theatre complex as well as a newly built elective hub for day case procedures.
  • There is a 1 in 4 on-call rota to provide cover for daytime on-call activity and elective inpatient operating.
  • To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.
  • To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
  • To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

About Us

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales.

Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury which are located 20 minutes’ drive apart. Together they provide 99% of our activity. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services.
