Job Overview
We are looking for a Locum Consultant to provide a full Orthopaedic Hand service. This role is fixed term for 6 months and based at Frimley Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital.
Outpatient clinics are also held at a number of our satellite sites - Fleet Hospital, Farnham Hospital and Aldershot Centre for Health.
Main duties of the job
This post is a locum post for 6 months fixed term. At present funding is not in place for this to become a substantive post. The post will have a focus on hand and wrist elective clinics and operating.
The ability to work flexibly, cohesively and in collaboration with the existing consultants is a necessary requirement to the post.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Some Of The Key Elements Of The Role Include
- The basis of the post is 10 programmed activities; 8.5 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 PAs of Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).
- The post holder will be expected to see new patients as well as operating on patients from the waiting list.
- The post holder would be expected to work a flexible job plan to utilise existing clinic and theatre capacity. This would include weekend working.
- The post holder would attend regular clinical and radiology multidisciplinary meetings to facilitate patient care.
- The post holder would work in collaboration with the existing hand surgery consultants to improve the trust’s RTT position.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- FRCS Orthopaedics or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
Desirable criteria
- Fellowship of the British Orthopaedic Association and membership of an appropriate interest group
Experience
Essential criteria
- A wide grounding during training of all aspects of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery
- Fellowship training in hand & wrist surgery.
- Ability to teach clinical and operative skills
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
- Undertaken research with published papers in referred journals
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable Management experience

- Ability to organise and develop service provision
- Able to evaluate own clinical practice
