Consultant
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

You will also be required to work at any of NHS Lothian sites.
Post Summary:
- Position: 12-month fixed term post
- Department: Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Location: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
- Purpose: To increase scheduled care capacity and reduce the number of long waiting new outpatients and those patients long-waiting for arthroplasty inpatient and daycase surgery.
Elective operating will focus on long waiting arthroplasty orthopaedic surgical practice.
On-call will be based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Little France, contributing to the Arthroplasty on-call rota.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has hosted the Major Trauma Centre in Lothian, part of the South-East of Scotland Major Trauma since 2021, and is a tertiary referral service for the adjacent regions of Fife and the Borders.
