Rate: DOE (Dependent on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate / Short Notice Preferred
The Opportunity
A well-established and reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Locum Family Lawyer to provide support during a period of increased workload. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of privately funded and/or publicly funded family matters while ensuring excellent client care and maintaining high professional standards.
This role offers flexibility and can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis depending on the firm's requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of family law matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Advising clients on a broad range of family law issues including:
- Divorce and separation.
- Financial remedy proceedings.
- Private children matters.
- Cohabitation disputes.
- Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
- Domestic abuse and injunction applications.
- Drafting legal documents, applications, witness statements and correspondence.
- Conducting negotiations and liaising with clients, courts, barristers and third parties.
- Attending hearings where required.
- Providing practical and commercial legal advice tailored to clients' circumstances.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and internal procedures.

Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive (CILEX) or experienced Family Fee Earner.
- Proven experience handling a family law caseload independently.
- Strong knowledge of family law procedures and relevant legislation.
- Comfortable managing files with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and client care skills.
- Ability to start at short notice is highly desirable.
- Experience with private family work is essential; legal aid experience is advantageous where applicable.
